  • Very nice video Ray. Yet another project you will have me doing. Jobs are starting to back up on me but will have to just make time. Thanks again!

  • Gwen and I thoroughly enjoyed your post. We also are starting the process. From cans of nuts and bolts, trinkets, stuff that “has value”  that doesn’t seem right to throw away, the amount of small items is amazing. Neighbors say thanks for offering but no thanks. My son suggested we have a name your price thrift sale. No offer refused. Sounds…[Read more]

Wow! If the microwave plug melted the outlet like that the plug must have overheated. Hope the blades on the plug are ok. Tarnished contacts inside the outlet must have caused that. I used a spray contact cleaner at work and now think I may spray all my camper outlets because of condensation causing poor contacts. This stuff is great, it will even…[Read more]

Seems strange.  The junction box? where was that in all these circuits?  it must of had loose connectors to get hot and melt.  Oh well.  Too much juice and not enough Snoose.

    Doug.

Just for information, I did the calculations and it seems that your extension cord would only result in a 3-volt drop in voltage, only cost about 1/2 amp of current available and only decrease wattage supply by about 50 watts.  (that’s at a full 15 amp draw).  Good luck with the project and been nice chatting about it with you.

Good luck Doug. Seems like you will nail it down very soon. It seems to me that 80 percent of electrical failures of equipment that was working, are a result of human intervention. Changes made, upgrades, etc. Sounds like a dead short on the line or very close to a dead short. A screw in a wire though a wall, and so on. Let the warranty people…

Yeah. Had photo upside down. Maybe someone had a central vac or shop vac set up off a single outlet. Maybe to a “basement” outlet. If nothing is hooked up to the circuit breaker you would be good to go. Or if it’s occupied, you could swap them. If it’s to a critical outlet you could get a new breaker then. Looks like you are close to nailing it…[Read more]

    Doug.

It looks by your photo that the breaker for the microwave is on a split breaker. Left side (shown on) is microwave, right side (shown off/tripped) is marked GFI. So it looks like the GFI breaker is off not the microwave. If that’s the case the GFI outlet may be bad or over sensitive. Anyway be sure to powerdown the panel before you poke…[Read more]

  • I feel your pain Doug.   I’m planning on becoming a snowbird as well.  Started going through stuff, OMG.  30+ years of accumulation.  Planned on using one room for stuff to keep and eventually rent a storage for the wifes’ antiques and other family heirlooms, my toolbox (1 of 2 thinned out) and more.  Hope to sell the house in the sprin…[Read more]

It could be low voltage tripping your breaker.  As voltage drops under a load (microwave) the current goes up.  This could be why one or the other circuit breakers trip on that circuit.  They may be doing their job. It may be just inrush current tripping your breakers.  You could try shutting off all other circuit breakers in your camper and the…[Read more]

  • Here is a few photo’s of our “new to us” 2012 Cougar.  In winter storage in place in Pepin, Wisconsin. Come April Gwen and I will be back and if all goes as planned… no more Minnesota -25 degree winters.

  • Nice review. It will be interesting to see how it looks after a bit of sunlight oxidation. Kind of expensive for just starting out, but like the keyless security. No more hiding the key. :bye:

The last time I had a windshield replaced, the shop asked me if I was paying for it or if insurance was.  Apparently they have 2 price lists.  I suppose they overcharge the insurance companies when they find out the customer isn’t paying for the charges.

  • Thanks for the invite Ray! I look forward to all your videos. I also have a 2012 Cougar 323 mks. So it’s like your showing the new guy how to’s in my own 5th wheel. Keep them coming. Going on the road for 1st time late summer 2018. “See” you soon… Out there.
