Under sofa Drawers

Our Jayco 24SS has 2 large drawers under the sofa. Both of which tend to open while driving so when we took one out today to find the edge of the slide we found one of the drawer glides broken and that someone had added a couple of screws through the bottom of the drawer for unknown reasons.  We are thinking of removing the drawers and hope that will increase the usable storage under the sofa for long and large items we need to carry with us. Has anyone done  this sort of project that could help advise us on the best course of action?

If you don’t find what you are looking for, ask one of the moderators. They seem to have have an encyclopedic knowledge of the older posts there.

We are going to remove the drawers and have the front of the drawers open down with hinges. This will give us a place to store long things like the fishing poles! We don’t have much for basement space in our little Class C. =- Nancy

Bob says it’s gonna be a little while for that project, we are still working on getting the floor finished! So much to do! But fun and well worth it! -Nancy 😉

With all the Arthur rain and stuff we finished the floor and got the under sofa drawers out! Hooray!

Found an added bonus to removing the drawers from under the sofa.  They and their associated hardware weigh 48 pounds! That will help a lot when we go full time!   :good:
