    Thanks to everyone for posting the nice comments about our TV tray dog bed. Miss Lily and Paco are great travelers, now they are even more comfortable.  Paco, that’s the little guy, is part Vampire so you don’t want to mess with him.

    Thanks Melody;
    We had just rescued the little pooch Paco.  He is from San Bernardino and Miss Lily is from L.A.  We had just got Paco as a brother for Lily and they were trying to establish who was top dog for lap time.  They were both on death row.  I encourage anyone looking for a pooch to check out their local rescue agencies and give an unwanted animal their forever home.  They are both excellent travelers and camping is their favorite thing to do.  They are so happy to have a home they give us love above and beyond any animals we have had.

    We have gotten almost all of our dogs from shelters and yes I agree they are the best. I have been the “last chance” for most of our dogs.  Beau was a shephard/wolf cross that was on his way to the river to be drowned, I took him and his 2 litter mates, found homes for the other 2 and kept him. He was the smartest and most loyal dog I ever had. Bandit was a 4 year old Australian Heeler that had been chained all his life and was not very social at all, but after about 6 months he was the most loving and happy dog we knew. Crabby Abby was also on her way to be euthanized when my friend called from the pound and ask me to meet her at the back door. She had tons of personality. Those 3 we had all at once and they lived with us for over 13 years. and i still tear up thinking about them 😥  . They all died within a year of each other. I think just loneliness for each other. There have been others, the 3 we got now Tank (boxer/lab), Duchess (min pin) and Pepper (blue heeler) all were on death row also. Can’t wait to start our rving together.

    Ya and them teeth are sharp too, soon after we got him I tried to take a chew stick away and came close to being an amputee.  He loves me now though, once he figured out who was buying the grub.

    Melody, your reply touched my heart, we become so attached to our dogs, it is heartbreaking when they leave us. All dog owners know what I mean. It prompted me to write this tribute

    The Rescue
    You have no idea how much we care
    My wordless friend with so much hair
    Close to death at another’s hand
    For that to happen we would not stand.
    We saw your face it was love at first sight
    We’ll give you a home…and take away your fright.
    Through bars of steel you will look no more
    You’re in our hearts and behind our door.
    Face pressed against my arm as I write this prose
    Returning love with your tiny wet nose.
    I pray we will age for many a year
    With the good Lord’s blessing to keep us here.
