Ok, you experienced RVers who’ve been there… speak to me of Quartzite; pros, cons, where to park, where NOT to park, happenings, weather, what to (for sure) bring, tips, tricks, the works!  🙂

I’m thinking it might be a good winter spot for me…depending on what you say…

    Hi Norma,

What type of camping are you planning on doing…boon docking or private RV park? We boon dock and stay at La Posa South. This is the only BLM area that has water and sani dump. They also have garbage bins and pit toilets. There are lots of other areas to camp on BLM in the area so your options for water and dumping are to drive to La Posa South or into Quartzsite and pay to dump at the Pit Stop. This is where we get our propane and potable water. You can be as close or as far away from others as you want to be on BLM. There is a nice area north of Quartzsite on Plamosa Rd. on the way to Bouse thats quieter and not as dusty. We do our laundry at the Main Street Laundry and they also have a potable water kiosk there. If you need to have anything shipped in you can use Quiet Times just up and across the street from Main Street Laundry. They charge a $1.00 handling fee.  The post office has huge lineups so we rent a mail box in Parker and check our mail when we go for groceries at Walmart and Safeway.

    Safe travels!

Yes!  Exactly the type of info I was looking for!  Thanks so much!!!

Is there a limit to the amount of time you can stay?

Dispersed camping is free but I believe you must move every 2 weeks at least 25 miles. No services or camp host. Or you can stay at “any” BLM  sites in the US with a camp host for 2 weeks for $40.00 or 7 months for $180.00. It’s a sweet deal! Check out the Bureau of Land Management website for info and maps.

    Cheers!

We were in Quartzsite in January, attended the big RV show and visited with Steve and Dianne. Here is a video with a few clips and pix to give you a flavor of the place.

Holy SMOKES there are a lot of people!!!  I just love when you say something to Ray, he can just whip out a vid and *poof* you’re there!

There are miles and miles and miles of desert out there!  I liked that comment about how many hundreds of RVs were there and everybody boondocking.  Amazing, isn’t it…

    Thanks, Ray!  🙂

haha, isn’t the internet great, now instead of boring my family with trip movies, I can share them with people that are actually interested.

You have to go at least once, just to experience it. So much stuff going on and so many RVers.
    It’s a very unique scene.

Looks like a madhouse, but a must experience at least once! I know what you mean about trying to get your family to watch your video’s….. I recently feel and broke or video camera, my husband asked me if I wanted to buy a new one, I said why no one ever wants to watch our videos…. Lol
