    Wow!

Sadly, it turns out that the boat is all booked up until……forever.

Thanks, Margo.  Yes, we feel pretty lucky.  We haven’t actually started camping in earnest yet, but the plans are in place to get a 5th wheel in the spring and head West.  We have several sailing friends who have either moved from boats to RV’s or are doing both.  Maybe there are some in the Happy Hour group who are current or ex sailors.

Yes, I was SCUBA certified several years ago and we do carry the diving equipment on the boat but haven’t really used it much at all.  I’m not sure why — too much other stuff going on, I guess.  We have done a fair bit of snorkeling, though.  SCUBA seems kind of labor intensive compared to just putting on fins and a mask and jumping in.   OK, maybe I’m just too lazy to SCUBA.

PS:  I’ll dig out some photos of the boat and upload them.  Thanks for asking!

Great.  Would love to see the boat.  Do you sail far?  We have scuba in Caymens and Bahamas.  Might go back to the Bahamas in a couple of years.  Very nice and warm.  B-)

We usually dive out of Key Largo.  Anyone know of a good campground near there?  Last time we camped in that area was over 15 years ago.  Been about 5 years since we drove down.  Stayed at a hotel.  Will be better in the trailer.

I’m not to fond of boats, (motion sickness), but love snorkeling. Scuba seems to equipment intensive and noisy, much prefer snorkeling. Our favorite area is at Akumal, not overly developed and excellent underwater, with a protective reef.

    Margo:

A few miles north of Key Weird is a campground right on the water.  Its name escapes me now but, if you like, I’ll dig it up.  We’re never camped there, but have passed it on the boat a few times.  It looks like a great place from the water.

Thank you Phil, if you would.  Might go down there within the next 2 years.  I can look it up on Earth to check it out.

Having lived at the shore for our entire lives,(so far), we are looking forward to exploring the forests and mountains and deserts and bad lands and hot springs…….. well, you get the idea!  We have family with boats and can go on them anytime.  Surf and turf sounds awesome especially for dinner! :good:
