Hi All,
I have a quick (probably simple/stupid) question about charging my batteries. I installed a Victron battery monitor last summer and everything has been working great. As I posted in an earlier post, my converter has gone out, and I am soon going to replace it. Until then, I have had to run off of batteries for everything. I figured I should probably charge up the batteries so they didn’t get too run down, so I hooked up the charger. Then I thought, Hey, I wonder how much this little charger is actually doing, so I checked the monitor and it isn’t reading the charge.
Hmmm…well I mistakenly hooked up the charger to just the batteries, so of course it isn’t going to read that. So I put the negative of the charter to the battery side of the shunt…and still nothing. I thought that that would do it. I don’t want to blow up the monitor, so I thought that I would ask before trying anything else…
Oh, and when I would connect to shore power (before the converter quit working…) the monitor would show charging.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!
