InactiveDavid and I own several guns…rifles and pistols, my question is when we go full time rv what gun laws apply? If we keep our gun safe, which is locked in our 5th wheel is that kosher, or do we have to abide by each state’s laws?

ParticipantIt’s my understanding that there are several opinions on this…. Which most gun owners seem of a mind to, make their own minds up what to do. Our RVs are our homes. Unless you cross over into Canada. You might want to check out the laws for each state of the USA, just to see what they are….. Of course it’s on the internet..

ParticipantI do NOT have a concealed license, for privacy reasons. I DO, however, keep my gun available in the Lurch. It is my home. I will defend myself and Chewbacca. They might get a spray of rock salt if I catch ’em stealing from me, though.

ParticipantAs a gun owner and collector, you will have to follow the laws of each state. Keep in mind some states have limits on how big the ammo clips are. Certain style guns are outlawed in some states. You can go on line to find the rules and laws of each state. Also having a concealed license only means you can carry in the state it is issued. Some states accept other states but not all. Example Texas is accepted by New Mexico and Arizona but not California. Do a lot of research.

ParticipantWe live in Arizona, which has pretty liberal gun laws. When I was taking the concealed carry class, they emphasized learning the laws in the states you will be traveling in, just as James said. We go to Mexico now and then, and we have to make sure there are no bullets, powder, cases or anything related to guns in our rig, let alone guns. You know all the horror stories. In the states, we always have something along for protection–never had to use it.
