I was cleaning the outside access vents to my fridge (2001 coachmen royal with domenic fridge) and notice the square computer like fan in there wasn’t running, should it run while fridge is running? I have it pugged in my land line.

The fan is usually run by a thermal relay attached to the coils. When the coils get hot it turns on and aids in cooling. Usually, it will run on a hot day or if the sun is shining on the fridge side of the rig.

Is a thermal relay like a bi meal snap switch?

    Yeah, like this – http://www.loveyourrv.com/replacing-my-noisy-dometic-dm2652-rv-fridge-fan/

I ended up swapping the fan in my old fridge as it was noisy and they have put the thermal switch right in front of it. Was always cycling on and off. My new fridge doesn’t have a fan which is nice.

Interestingly my new fridge (same model #) doesn’t have a fan at all which is nice and cools fr better, looks like the re-engineered it as the piping has a different layout vs the old.
