When passing through the Redwoods between Eureka and Crescent City on the northern California coast we like to stopover and camp at Elk Country RV Resort. The RV park itself is run down, right next to the highway and over $30 a night even though it’s off season and almost empty.

But, the locals are incredible and well worth the price of camping. Virtually every time we have stopped by, we’ve been treated to a close-up experience with a local herd of Roosevelt Elk!

This spring we booked in for three days, and each day the Elk herd came for a visit. One evening they played out in a field right behind our trailer and the next morning just as we were pulling out they surrounded us in the truck. We had to wait for them to finish munching the fresh grass around our rig and move on. So awesome to witness! Luckily I managed to capture highlights of the action on video to share. Hope you enjoy it – Ray

After watching your first video we reserved a 3 day stay for early summer. Very excited and hoping the elk are still around.

That is so cool. Definitely a stop well worth the price of admission. Thanks for the video. Loved it. Even made the wife watch it as she also enjoys seeing animals.  Thanks again  :bye:  :yahoo:
