I was watching the RV Geeks video on Roof Leak Fails and saw a plug for Surebond SB-140 for skylights not Dicor.  I know they were not just plugging SureBond because they mentioned Dicor a number of times but I was just wondering about the difference.  And if you are supposed to use SureBond for skylights should you use it for Roof Vents also?  I am Cornfused.  Slim

I think the biggest problem with skylights isn’t the seal around them but the fact the plastic ends up getting brittle over the years, yellows and cracks. OR they get stepped on. 🙂

Haven’t ever heard of Surebond before. It is strange that it is billed for skylights. Maybe the company makes it for house skylights and decided, Hey, this should work for RVS!

It looks like it is a substitute for butyl tape, as it is butyl based. Maybe for ease of removal at a future date when the skylight or vent housing cracks? I would imagine a skylight that had Dicor used under the lip would be almost impossible to remove.

I swapped out my kitchen vent for a Fantastic vent and the Dicor was easy to lift, the trick is to do it in warm weather I think, it has the consistency of chewing gum.
