From our research, it seems we need to get a recent vet health report to take our pets across the border into Canada. So Ray, since you’re in the States for several months at a time, do you have to take Angie to the vet just before you cross each time? What is the cost of the vet report, average?

Angie goes to the vet once a year for her checkup and yearly shots. At that time I just ask the vet for a signed copy of the statement of shots and that the dog is in good health. Her yearly checkup and shots average about $120.

The most important one for the border crossing is the rabies shot that happens every 3 years. It must be up to date.

In 7 years we have yet to be asked by the US customs agent about the dog and shots but almost everytime coming back the Canadian border guard asks.
