American Goldfinch at our feeder.
I don’t know the proper name, but we call these “Buffalo Beans”. They form pods similar to a broad bean later in the year. The beetle was a bonus!
Watching Muskrats again, this time had my decent camera with me!
Cormorants raiding the stocked fish, the owner hates these birds.
We have a seasonal campsite, our site backs onto the water. A lot of mornings, I’ll take coffee, camp chair, camera and tripod to the edge, and wait to see what’s active. The site used to be a strip mine for coal back in the days the land didn’t have to be reclaimed, so, long deep trenches were cut that eventually filled with water. It’s about 50′ deep in the middle. The owner has stocked it with trout and carp, so he really dislikes the pelicans and cormorants that migrate through each spring and use his fish to refuel. Deer, coyote, moose are common in the area, and it’s on a major migratory bird flight path for many species that breed in the arctic. You never know what you’re going to see!

No picture on my site, did it go to picture outer space, will be watching for awhile and see if it comes through, i think you all get al most the same critters we get in Wy. Aileen

That picture belongs in sometype of wildlife magazine or something like that. It is beutiful. Love it, wow your lucky to get such nice things early in the morning. To much humans here, but once and while get a nice critter picture. Aileen
Nice shot Roger, I have the max file size set to 5 megabytes, any larger and it will slow the site down and I’ll run outta space. 🙂
On the way to our seasonal site each week, we pass through Elk Island Park. There are some elk here, but the most numerous large mammal is the Bison. There are two species here, pictured is the Woodland Bison. The woodland Bison are north of Hiway 16, and the Plains Bison are on the South side.
The Canola is well in blossom now, brilliant yellow fields all over!
