We’re just about to leave for a 10-12 week trip around the midwest. The itinerary is somewhat flexible.  We’re planning to spend a couple of weeks exploring northern Wisconsin in early August.  Any recommendations for must-see locations, campgrounds that you loved?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

If you are able, I would recommend Door County.  Numerous campgrounds to choose from, both State Park and private.  We love Peninsula State Park and will be staying at Rustic Timbers private park this time around in a couple weeks.  Peninsula has an outdoor theatre to see performances at and there is an outdoor, old-fashioned drive-in right across the street.  Door County has soo much to do and see…and eat!!!

Depending on where you are coming and going to, way up at the tip of WI near Superior is the Apostle Islands, beautiful area.  Great canoeing through caves and beautiful views.

Thank you, Julie!  Just the advice I was looking for!!

The Minocqua/Woodruff- Eagle River area is  northern Wisconsin tourist area. If you have a large rig and want a full hookup, Indian Shores in Woodruff and Northern Pines in Eagle River are nice.  If you have a smaller unit and don’t want full hook up there are many state campgrounds in the area.
