Love to hear good spots to camp at (private or National Park) as close to the water as possible. Since I live in Virginia, I’m more interested in East Coast or Gulf spots but will take all suggestions. I don’t mind what time of year and would think I’d have more choices in the Fall or Winter. When it gets a little cooler (so the bugs go away) I’m planning on hitting Assateague Island. I’m also thinking of going down to the Outer Banks to one of the National Parks before they close for the season.

Hi, if you are looking for boondocking spots on the beach on the Texas Gulf Coast, I would suggest Magnolia Beach near Indianola, Texas. It is fabulous! It’s a crushed Shell Beach so you can actually drive on the beach. I have even ridden my motorcycle up and down the beach a few times.
It is free to camp there, not even an annual pass required. There is nothing touristy about Maggie Beach, it is very quiet even during spring break. You can camp up to 30 days.
There is one business in town Kama a convenience store where you can purchase fuel, beer, and with a small Grill, and they make excellent breakfast burritos! On the backside of the same building is the Saltwater Saloon where the locals gather in the evenings. The nearest dump station is in Port Lavaca about 20 – 25 miles away. There is also a Walmart in Port Lavaca as well.
    Love Magnolia Beach!
